What Does It Take To Be a Certified Nursing Assistant?

A certified nursing assistant, popularly known as a CNA is a very demanding and challenging job and career. It entails one working in hospitals, elderly care centers, hospice agencies, nursing home, assisted living centers and many other health related institutions. To be a CNA you will first of all, join a school that offers the program. There are many schools that offer the program both in your local neighborhood or even online where you could enroll and train. Upon completion of the training, one will be expected to sit for an examination. If you pass the examination, you will then be a certified nursing assistant.

As a certified nursing assistant you will be expected to work closely with patients attending to their various needs. Some of the needs will be physical ones like bathing the patients, ensuring they are eating while other needs will be emotional. This is basically the main reason of training. In addition to that, it exposes you to the common equipments you will be meeting with as you take care of patient. You are expected to know how to measure blood pressure, heartbeat pulse as well as using other equipment which the sick people use. If licensed to do so, some CNAs are free to administer medications. This does not however, involve the normal routine jobs that the CNAs are expected to do.

To be a successful and a good certified nursing assistant, there are several traits which you need to posses. First of all; the job fits people who are mature and self confident as this will ensure a good relationship with the patients. In addition to that, one should have a positive attitude and be dependable. These traits will work to inspire the sick people. Other than that, you need to be strong with a good back as at times you will be transferring the sick people from wheel chairs to beds. Sometimes being a CNA comes with long working hours and you should be able to withstand such conditions especially during times of emergencies or when you are handling a patient who needs much attention.

The demand of the CNAs is on the increase in the US and if you are planning to join the field, be assured of a place to work. According to the 2008 Bureau of Labor Statistics, the certified nursing assistant job vacancies are expected to raise steady by 18% all through up to 2018. In addition to that, the salaries offered will also rise from the current average value of ,620 to higher value. This is definitely a good deal as you will be required to train for such a short period of time which hardly goes beyond 16 weeks.

The pre-qualification requirements vary from one state to another but the general ones are that you may still be enrolled in high school, you must be 16 years of age and you should be able to speak and write English language easily. The certification will make a big difference in your life as opposed to when you don’t have it and you want to work this area.

LPN Duties

LPN’s are the nurses that give the most practical assistance to any patient in their care. They are also the ones that take care of the patient’s daily needs and communicate these needs with the doctors and registered nurses that are on duty.

LPN’s are the most important nurses on the ward and, because of this, they are exceptionally trained. They will need to know how to take the vital signs of their patients on a regular basis, and the proper care for wounds as well. They will have to have exceptional communication skills and be friendly as well.

LPN’s are the go-betweens for the doctors. They will be the ones preparing patients for any tests that they might need. They will also have to take samples and get them to the lab so that the doctors will be able to better diagnose them. LPN’s are the nurses that administer shots and monitor things like oxygen and catheters as well.

The list goes on and on about all the things that LPN’s are supposed to take care of and that can be an intimidating thing for some people. With so much responsibility hanging on your shoulders, you might be wondering why you would put yourself through it all.

Your training to become an LPN is long and hard. You are going to need to put all of your effort into this type of job and, if you’re doing it just for a paycheck, you are going to be a bit upset. The pay is good for an LPN, but you will need to be able to love your job in order to get the fulfillment out of it that you want. This isn’t a job that just anyone can do; you have to be a special kind of person to give this much.

If becoming an LPN is important to you then you are going to need to fully understand what you are preparing yourself for. This isn’t a career that you choose just to pass some time and make a bit of money. This is a career that you will need to work hard at and never give up. You will be taking care of a lot of people and will need some composure.

RN Training

Presently, there are more registered nurses working in the United States than there are anywhere else in the world. However, we have been experiencing a shortage of R.N.’s for many years, largely due to the stressful workload of a nurse and the earnings which are not comparable to all that the job encompasses. It is estimated that over 50% of registered nursing jobs are hospital-oriented, with R.N.’s composing the biggest occupation in the healthcare field, with approximately 2.7 million medical jobs being that of a registered nurse.

Registered nurses are qualified to perform numerous and varied duties, such as treating patients, recording a myriad of data regarding a patient’s condition, diagnostic testing procedures and interpreting the outcomes; using medical equipment to assist doctor’s or physician assistants; and rehabilitation services for those patients who require follow-up care. R.N.’s also have knowledge regarding symptoms of diseases, nutrition, physical therapy, and can operate public health screenings and blood drives. Licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants will also work under the supervision of a registered nurse, and instruct them on techniques, which may help them gain experiential knowledge leading to higher incomes.

RN training involves obtaining a bachelor’s degree at a four year university and several years of interning at a hospital under the direction of other registered nurses. There is also the option of specializing in certain fields of nursing, such as working as a pediatric nurse, a postoperative nurse, or a geriatric nurse, which is fast becoming one of the most in-demand jobs in the medical field. Patients who are suffering from serious illnesses or injuries require a critical care nurse, who usually works in intensive care wards or emergency areas in hospitals.

Forensic registered nurses will assist in the examination and management of victims of violent abuse or those involved in a serious accident. The range of occupational fields available to a registered nurse is virtually unlimited, and someone should not have any problem finding a specific field of interest which they would love to work in.

A student desiring RN training can opt to enroll in a two year degree first, and then obtain an entry-level job which usually has benefits such as paying for tuition and earning credits towards a bachelor’s degree. Plus the nursing student will gain important real-life experience and knowledge regarding the field of nursing, which will serve to enhance job and salary opportunities in the future. Upon successful completion of RN training, the student is required to take the NCLEX-RN, which is the national licensing examination necessary to obtain a nursing degree. States fluctuate in their requirement needs regarding education prerequisites so a potential registered nurse should check with his or her state guidelines when applying for nursing jobs in a certain state.

There are nursing degrees, which can be obtained online but these are only meant for those who are already registered nurses and are seeking a master’s degree in nursing. As the holder of an MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) you would be qualified to be a legal nurse consultant or the administrator of a health care facility.

Hello. My name is Samantha Ervin. I am 17 years old, and I will graduate from Whitmore School by this summer. I am currently attending Whitmore because I had a lot of problems at my old school. My old school is probably one of the worst schools in West Virginia. It is very unorganized. There are so many drama filled people there that no one can concentrate on school work. There are so many fights due to misunderstandings. People in my old school do not respect each other. This also causes some of the fights. This is only a few of the problems. Since I have stared schooling at Whitmore, I have been able to do so much better. I am making better grades. I am able to concentrate on my work. I am not afraid to ask for help. I can work at my own pace. And I can graduate a whole year early. Since I can graduate early, I plan on attending college in the fall. The only thing I am worried about is not having enough money to pay for tuition. I live close enough to the college I want to attend so I can stay at home. This makes things a little easier. I know that I will not have to pay for housing. My family has a very low income, so they cannot help me money wise. They have told me multiple times that if they had the money, I would not have any worries about college. I have been trying to find a job for over a year now. I have yet to find one. This also makes things difficult because I am not making any money to save for tuition. I have applied for every scholarship I can find, but I …

Certified Nursing Assistant Jobs, Jobs And More Jobs

Certified nursing assistants are enjoying full time employment, diversified working hours to suit their life and paid above award hourly rates. CNA’s form an important role in the nursing groups providing client care under the supervision of a registered or enrolled nurse. These duties include assisting the client with feeding, assisting with each day hygiene, grooming, monitoring their general well being and offering bodily assistance to registered nursing employees when coping with the patient.

By not having nursing assistants, hospitals and nursing homes would discover it troublesome to function effectively as registered nursing employees are in short supply and place a demand on the wages budget of each health provider. It is for that reason that CNA’s are in huge demand all around the world by hospitals and nursing homes.

To train for accredited cna position, training consists of classroom and practical components. Practically all countries have a requirement as to the minimal training hours each in the classroom and practical modules of training. The government accredited nursing assistant examination will cover all points learnt by way of this training.

Over time, the nursing assistants were employed on an informal basis from what was referred to as the casual pool. This meant assorted hours of work in the course of the week, called in to work on short notice and allotted duties that bordered out side the job description for a certified assistant in nursing.

In the past few months, accredited nursing assistants are in extremely excessive demand now being tempted with full time employment, working hours that slot in with the demands of their lifestyle, being paid above award wages and allowances. The outcome has been the assistant nurse can acquire full time employment with a full working week receiving pay at the above award hourly rate.

In Australia this present day there is a giant demand for assistant in nursing workers both for hospitals and nursing homes simply because the hospitals and nursing homes have reached peak capability in client numbers. This is more evident during the seasons of disease and illness such as the swine flu or the influenza season.

There’s another issue to decide on a profession path as an accredited nursing assistant and that is the presently employed accredited nursing assistants form a part of an getting older workforce. It’s common to find full time and casually employed accredited nursing assistants are over fifty years of age on average. Establishments now demand younger assistant nurses to be part of their nursing teams. Because of the getting older workforce, institutions now manage, at great cost, accidents, illness and different obstacles of their ageing employees when compared to a youthful person in good health.

Hospitals and nursing providers at the moment are providing free assistant in nursing on the job training to trainees so they obtain certification and will pay an hourly wage to the trainees with the view of offering them permanent employment after they have completed their studies. Nursing assistants are an important asset to any organisation and that is acknowledged by providing ongoing on the job training to broaden abilities and knowledge.

To commence your CNA certification it can be executed by means of a campus, hospital, nursing carer establishment or by correspondence online. Fees are cheapest by learning on-line and we show you how you can get free on the job hands on training and be paid at the same time. Not solely that but there are lots of employment agencies that will subsidise on the job training fees if not pay the charges in total. For the unemployed, moms wishing to re-enter the workforce or simply these wanting a profession change, there are many choices accessible to you.

Certified CNA’s usually receive a full time hourly wage from fifteen to twenty five dollars. Add allowances to this hourly rate and soon your monetary place will likely be rather a lot stronger that may solely benefit you and your family.

Why Nurse Training Is Important For A CNA

In this time of recession, one field that has stayed away from the effects of economy collapse is the profession of nursing. Like all the other professions, the nursing profession has also split the duties in different types of nurses and now they get different nurse training for the different nursing types. There are three basic types of nurses which have different responsibilities and after getting to the highest rank, one can specialize and become one of the many other specialized types of nurses.

The three basic types of nurses include a certified nursing assistant, a licensed practical nurse and a registered nurse. First one is the certified nursing assistants; these are the lowest ranked nurses and have the most interaction with the patient. It is a duty of a CNA to help the patient with his daily routine tasks and monitor the patient’s condition very closely. The second type of nurses is the Licensed practical nurse, these nurses are higher in rank than the CNA and their duty is to check and keep the record of patient’s blood pressure, body temperature, blood sugar and other vital signs. It is also their duty to prepare injections and give medicine to the patient. The highest rank of the nurses is a RN (registered nurse), their duty is to supervise the other junior nurses and explains the procedure of treatment to the patient and his family and also provide them moral support.

Different types of nurses require different nurse trainings because of their different duties. If you want to become a CNA, you only require a training of three months. CNA training only requires a high school diploma for admission and after completing your training, you will have to appear in an exam. This exam will be based on two sections, theoretical knowledge and practical skills. If you want to become a licensed practical nurse then you are required to have a one year diploma or 2 year associate degree and then you will also have to pass an exam known as NCLEX-PN exam. Becoming a registered nurse demands a bachelor or associated degree, and then you will have to clear an exam called NLE (National Licensing EXAM), however you can also reach this post by getting promoted from certified assisting nurse.

There are many other nurse training courses which will make you a specialized nurse. You can become a midwife nurse and take care of pregnant ladies or you can become a school nurse and take care of children. You can also become a travel nurse and work in different medical camps, this allows you to visit different places and get higher payments. Other specialized types of nurses include Public Health Nurse (PHN), Nurse practitioner, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist ( CRNA), Home Health Nurse (HNH) and Occupational Health Nurse (OHN). These specializations allow you to change your working environment and help you increase your demand. These specializations also enable you to get a higher pay than the normal nurses. If you want to become a specialized nurse, first you have to get to the rank of a registered nurse.

Should You Become a Certified Nursing Assistant?

With the economy the way it is and the amount of people displaced from their occupations, many people are on the market for a new career. One sector that many believe can weather the economic turbulence is the health care industry. Among all of the jobs, one of the most popular actually requires just about the least amount of classroom attendance possible. The career of being a certified nursing assistant (cna) is a very popular one as of late and for good reason.

A CNA basically takes care of patients and their general needs. They primarily work under the supervision of a registered nurse and provide generalized patient care. Anything from grooming to feeding all the way to emotional support and hygiene related care are among the many daily tasks of a nurses aide. If you’re the type of person who loves to help others and work in a hospital or caring environment then this is probably the career for you!

You can actually become eligible for employment in this field within as little as 3 weeks. You can do one of the expedited fast track courses available at many colleges or you can take a full semester of training. If you’re working at a facility that has other nursing assistants then it’s possible they may pay for your school. Yes, it’s completely possible to get free schooling for this wonderful position. Be mindful though that they may in fact require you to work there after receiving your certification for a period of time to recoup costs of putting you through classes.

So, this all sounds great but the real question is probably “How much money do you make?”. Well, the field is actually growing very fast even with all of the new applicants. Salaries in the 30 to 40 thousand dollars per year range are not unheard of for underserved markets. Depending on where you live and what type of experience (if any) you have and what skills you possess (what additional classes did you attend in school that are relevant to this field?), you could either make more or less than this.

Many students elect to finish their cna training and them while working they’ll complete a degree in nursing and move up the occupational tree. There’s a lot more money available in nursing but it’s much higher competition. You can easily raise a family and live a fulfilling life on an assistants salary and probably deal with a lot less stress too.

So in closing, it’s worth mentioning again that being a cna has its many advantages and disadvantages. If you’re the type of person who enjoys working with people and can see yourself in a hospital environment, then I’d highly suggest you look into becoming a certified nursing assistant!
